Implementing Best Practices for RFID and Secure Supply Chain Systems
Course Description
Counterfeited and diverted drugs threaten the safety of consumers, deplete product integrity, and cost drug companies an estimated $30 million per year. The 2006 update of the FDA's Counterfeit Drug Task Force Report urges manufacturers to take a risk-based approach to implementing RFID technology to combat counterfeiting problems, but to do so requires proper planning, training, and execution. This interactive training course provides a comprehensive overview of this complex technology and addresses, not only it's use for anticounterfeiting, but also its broad range of applications in antidiversion, e-pedigree, clinical trials, recall assistance, and supply chain visibility.
Participants will learn the basics of applying RFID and managing data across the supply chain. Strategies and best practices that outline how to create a secure supply chain by utilizing RFID as a supplement or replacement to current technology will be discussed. The FDA's current position on the technology will be examined as well as EPCglobal's standards recommendations. Additionally, this course will clarify the business benefits of the technology for all stakeholders. Participants will have the unique opportunity to share real world experiences with each other in a small group setting, discuss concerns, and have specific standards questions addressed by a subject matter expert!
